The Aircraft Pictured above is a SWIFT S-1 made in Poland in 1993
This is the Strongest and most Aerobatic Glider in the World. It can take 10 Positive G's and 7.5 Negative G's. During the FREE Program I flew in 2009, I would pull 9 Positive G's and push 5 Negative G's. Since I weigh 180 lbs with my chute, just imagine 1620 lbs being pushed down in the glider and 900 lbs being pushed out of the glider. You really need to be in excellent shape to withstand these forces on your body. This is called G-tolerance and is slowly built up over time.
This glider can be flown as fast as 178 mph and can do just about every maneuver a powered aircraft can do.
I bought this glider in 2008 from the original owner Ed Walsh who bought the aircraft new in 1993. The glider was used by the U.S. Glider Aerobatic Team at the 5th FAI World Aerobatic Championship in Venlo Netherlands between August 15 thru August 28 1993. US Team members Walter Parrasch, Bob O'Dell, and Steve Coan flew this glider. The countries that competed that year were, in order of finish, Poland, France, Germany, Austria, Russia, USA, Hungary, and Italy. There were 43 competitors.
After the contest, this glider was imported to the United States in 1994 and was used at Turf Soaring Glider School ever since.
